LabAn Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Maynard Lance Cabañero ("we", "us"), the developer of LabAn ("the app"). By using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. What LabAn is

LabAn is a study aid for the Philippine Medical Technologist Licensure Exam (MTLE). It offers practice questions, mock exams, notes, mnemonics and reference tools. The questions are original, written by a Registered Medical Technologist from standard textbooks.

LabAn is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) or the Board of Medical Technology. Our questions are not actual board exam items.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms for you. A parent or guardian must also approve any purchase made by someone under 18.

3. Your account

Some features need you to sign in with Google. Keep your Google account secure. You're responsible for what happens under your account. One account is for one person; don't share it.

4. Free and paid plans

• Free: a sample of questions, notes and tools, free of charge.
• Student: the full question bank, notes and mnemonics. It renews automatically every month, 6 months or year, depending on the option you choose.
• Board Pass: everything in Student, plus the mock board exams, for 6 months. You pay once, and it doesn't renew automatically.

The app shows the current prices before you buy. Prices are in Philippine pesos and include any tax that Google Play collects.

Payment and renewal

All purchases go through Google Play and follow Google Play's terms. A Student plan renews automatically at the end of each period, and Google Play charges you, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.

Cancelling

Cancel anytime in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Uninstalling the app or deleting your account does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds

Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policy. You can request one through Google Play, usually within 48 hours of purchase. After that, email us at [email protected] and we'll consider your request fairly, for example if a paid feature didn't work. Nothing in these terms limits any refund rights you have under the Consumer Act of the Philippines (RA 7394) or other law.

Price changes

We may change prices for new purchases. If you have an auto-renewing plan, we'll tell you through Google Play before a new price applies to you, and you can cancel before it does. While your subscription stays active, you keep the price you signed up at.

5. Our content and your licence

All questions, explanations, notes, mnemonics, pictures we made, and the app's design belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. They are protected by copyright (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, RA 8293). Third-party pictures are listed with their licences in Profile → Settings → Image credits.

We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the content for your own study, inside the app, while your plan is active.

You may not:

• copy, screenshot to share, record, print, sell, post or otherwise distribute the questions, notes or other paid content, including in group chats, review centres or other apps
• extract, scrape or download the content by any means other than the app's normal features
• share your account, or resell access to it
• reverse-engineer the app, or get around its locks or payment system
• use the content to build a competing product or to train AI models

If you break these rules, we may suspend or close your account without a refund (section 9).

6. Accuracy, and no guarantee of results

We write and check every question carefully against textbooks and cite the source. Even so, mistakes can happen, and textbooks sometimes disagree. Please report errors to [email protected].

LabAn helps you study, but it doesn't guarantee that you will pass the MTLE, and it doesn't replace your school curriculum or the official PRC syllabus. The content is for education only. It is not medical advice, and it must not be used for patient care or real laboratory decisions.

7. Acceptable use

Don't use the app to break the law, interfere with the app or its servers, or try to access other users' accounts or data.

8. Changes to the app

We add questions and features regularly. We may also change, fix or remove content, for example to correct an error or follow new textbook editions, and we may change features. If we remove a major paid feature during your current paid period, we'll offer a fair remedy, such as a partial refund or extra time.

9. Ending

You can stop using LabAn and delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, especially section 5. If we close the whole service, we'll give reasonable notice, and we'll refund the unused part of any paid period.

10. Disclaimer and limit of liability

The app is provided "as is". We work to keep it running and correct, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or suited to your particular needs.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as a failed exam, lost time or lost data. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as liability for fraud or gross negligence.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Disputes go to the courts of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Before going to court, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the effective date, and we'll tell you in the app about significant changes before they apply. If you keep using LabAn after that, you accept the new terms.
